Aeropoxy vs Vpoxy+: Understanding the Differences
Aeropoxy is a fully thixotropic adhesive, meaning it won’t run or sag—making it ideal for vertical or overhead applications where precision placement is critical. Vpoxy+, while still thixotropic, is slightly less so. This allows it to better penetrate certain materials, which can be beneficial depending on the application.
Cure Time:
-
Aeropoxy begins to set in approximately 3 hours at 75°F.
-
Vpoxy+ sets more quickly, with an initial cure time of about 1 hour at the same temperature.
Strength:
Both adhesives offer comparable strength and are considered aerospace-grade, delivering some of the highest performance available to modelers using epoxy-based glues.
Thixotropic Benefit:
A thixotropic adhesive stays in place—such as on the edge of a bulkhead or rib—making assembly cleaner and more efficient.
QT Poxy is another excellent option, offering bonding strength close to that of BVM's Aeropoxy. Its main advantage is speed—setting in just 4 to 5 minutes, making it ideal for quick builds or field repairs.
